Anna McClung

Biographical Sketch

Dr. Anna McClung is the Center Director for the United States Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Dale Bumpers National Rice Research Center, located in Stuttgart, Arkansas. The Center has the largest concentration of rice researchers in the USDA/ARS, having 35 employees, including ten scientists, which are focused on exploring the genetic control of economically important traits in rice. She serves as geneticist and has been responsible for the development of seventeen rice cultivars for conventional and specialty markets and nine germplasm lines. She has published over 115 scientific manuscripts in the area of genetic marker discovery for use in breeding, characterizing and utilizing diverse rice varieties and wild species for cultivar improvement, developing high throughput evaluation methods, improving rice cooking, processing, and nutritional quality, and optimizing rice varieties for sustainable crop production.
