Mark Pousson, an active rice farmer from Welsh, Louisiana, a town located in the southwest part of the state. Mr. Pousson attended McNeese State University and is currently serving as a member on the Board of Directors for the US Rice Producers Association and the Louisiana Independent Rice Producers Association.

A community leader, Pousson was instrumental in organizing and bringing together over 200 members that led to the development of the South Louisiana Rail Facility (SLRF).  The SLRF is currently the newest and most modern rice rail loading facility in the United States and is located in Lacassine, Louisiana, on Interstate 10 between Houston and New Orleans.

Pousson also manages the rough rice export activities for the SLRF from the new IFG grain loading facility in the Port of Lake Charles, built recently in November 2015.  Both the rail site and the ocean port facility have given area farmers new alternatives to the foreign marketplace that did not previously exist.  The system allows the export of identity-preserved rough rice according to the buyer’s preference.
